Bid-writer & Project Manager

Matteo is the newest and youngest member of the team. Born in the outskirts of Milan (Italy) in 1991, Matteo holds a BA in International Relations and a MA in European Union Studies. Before joining Redknight, he gained an all rounded experience in European funding working as Assistant Project Manager for the Fundación Universitaria San Antonio -UCAM- in Murcia (Spain); The chance to work for a young and ambitious University gave him the opportunity to learn how to provide support for Horizon 2020, Erasmus+ and Creative Europe projects, as well as to liaise with partners and mediate with the University research staff. At UCAM he also acquired the know-how on managing University Rankings, likewise the U-Multirank and the Times Higher Education Ranking.

Ann waters

Associate Bid-writer

Ann has more than twenty years of experience working in economic development. She specialises in bid development, supporting project delivery and research and evaluation.  Over the past seven years Ann has raised well in excess of £10 million for economic development projects. Ann completed a geography degree at St David's University College, Lampeter followed by a Masters (MSocSc) in Economic Development and Policy at the Centre for Urban and Regional Studies (CURS) at the University of Birmingham. Since then Ann has worked as a consultant supporting economic development activities of local authorities, regional development agencies, universities and NGOs.

In recent years Ann has specialised in developing and bidding for projects seeking European Funding. She has detailed knowledge of the European Structural Funds, particularly ERDF. She has also gained experience with ERASMUS and Horizon 2020. Ann has a wealth of experience not only in developing funding bids but also developing supporting material for funding bids including research reports detailing the need and demand for projects and economic impact assessments highlighting the economic and social benefits of proposed developments. Where funding bids are successful Ann has provided interim management until project teams are in place, compliance and audit advice. She has also provided evaluation services on completion of project activities.

peter quantick

Co-founder and Director

Peter has over 30 years' experience in designing and drafting successful project proposals. Having studied at the University of Wales College, Swansea, obtaining a BSc (Joint Hons) in Botany and Zoology in 1974, he undertook his Doctoral Studies in Plant Pathology at Imperial College and completed his PhD of the University of London and Diploma of Imperial College in 1978. This was followed by 30 years' at the University of Lincoln, initially lecturing and researching into applied microbiology. He held a number of posts there including the role of Head of Research Office of the University, where he was involved in supporting colleagues in developing and submitting European and Research Council Applications. He received an Honorary Fellowship of the University of Lincoln in 2008, at the same time as he joined Cardiff Met as European Projects Director. Peter later joined the University of Wales Trinity St David as Professor of European Research and Innovation with the role as Director of European Funding and Projects.
Peter has been a partner in a number of EC funded projects as well as an evaluator for European Structural Funding Programmes in the East Midlands. He is also an expert evaluator, project reviewer and Chair and rapporteur for expert panels for Directorate General Research and Innovation (DG R & I) of the European Commission. He has undertaken several reviews of large European Projects and is a member of an advisory group for an EC Regional Potential Project lead by TUBITAK, the Turkish Scientific Research Council.  

Peter has Chaired an expert group which is evaluating the EC’s Framework Programme 7 for the DG R & I, as well as the Wales Higher Education European Liaison Officer’s Group and the European Social Fund Steering Group, and is ex officio a member of HEFCWs Research Innovation and Engagement Committee and Universities UKs European Coordinating Group and European Community of Practice. He is member of a Welsh European Funding Office Working Group on the new Structural Funds Programmes, specifically the European Territorial Cooperation Programmes.

dayne hodgson

Co-founder and Director

Dayne has experience of providing proposal preparation support for Horizon2020, Erasmus+ and Creative Europe projects, as well as European Structural and Investment Fund programmes, which he has also managed and administrated. Obtaining a First Class Honours award in 2009 from Cardiff Metropolitan University (formerly the University of Wales, Institute Cardiff) in the area of Sport and Leisure Management, he began his professional career with Cardiff Met, working within the Research and Enterprise Services department. Here he developed expertise in both National and International funding streams e.g. Knowledge Transfer Projects, Academia for Business, Framework Programme 7, Erasmus and Structural Funded Programmes alike.

Recently, Dayne has served as a member of the Wales Higher Education European Liaison Officer’s Group, the European Social Fund Steering Group and the Universities UKs European Coordinating Group and European Community of Practice, representing the HE Sector.

During his time as European Strategy Development Officer at the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, he played a key role in the initial proposal development of a number of high profile Structural Funded projects, and supported a successful Erasmus+ application worth over 300,000 euros.
